Broken Dreams

It’s hard to enjoy a win when you’re losing so badly in another league. You want to feel good but there’s a pinching thorn in your side preventing any celebration. So I’ll cheers to a win and drink for the loss.

10-Team League

My Opponent:  So here’s what happened. All of his players showed up and mine didn’t. I thought I had a chance after Thursday Night Football when Sidney Rice fell short of his projection with only 2 passes for 32 yards and Seahawks Defense held to just 8 Fantasy points. Jordy Nelson continues to be a top target for Rodgers with 8 receptions, 122 yards and a TD. Steven Jackson would get his first TD of the season when he’s playing against me.

My Team: I’m out. There’s no way I could come close to making the playoffs in my 10-team league.  A miracle must happen and I definitely don’t live on 34th St. What’s the problem so far? 1st Round Pick: Matt Stafford. 2nd Round Pick: Chris Johnson. 5th Round Pick: Aaron Hernandez (with his injury after week 1). 6th Round Pick: Brandon Lloyd.

This week, the only guy who I can count on was on a bye week, Roddy White. Mendenhall was out with an injury so I picked up Dwyer against the Bengals’ poor run defense. With Roddy and Malcom Floyd out on bye, I was forced to pick up someone in the free agency at WR. I figured Donnie Avery was the closest to a decent option who ended up with 4 receptions and 46 yards. The hardest game to watch was the Patriots/Jets game. Brandon Lloyd was targeted 8 times, some of which were definite TDs. He caught one pass. Yes, just one. What else was annoying about this game? Hernandez/Gronkowski matchup. First TD of the game? Obv Gronk. Who had an incomplete pass in the end zone? Hernandez. On the very next play, who scored the TD? Gronk. So annoying. Why can’t my players catch these passes?

You know what else was annoying and hard to watch? Matthew Stafford. He doesn’t show up until the last 10 minutes of every game. His receivers are dropping balls like it’s a hot potato and he can’t complete a 3rd down to save his life. He has the best wide receiver in the league! Get it to Megatron! Annoying. Appropriate that he’s being called “Grass Face” on twitter. Brutal.

6-Team League

My Opponent: Well, it definitely helped that Matt Forte was on the bench and Reggie Bush was starting on his bye week. Coby Fleener and Larry Fitzgerald had tough games amounting to less than 5 Fantasy points combined. Aaron Rodgers (342 yards, 3 TDs), Victor Cruz (131 yards, 1 TD) and Bears Defense (3 sacks, 1 interception, 3 fumbles) had great games but not enough to defeat the Sleeping Giant.

My Team: Love bye week comebacks!! Brees is back and on point with 377 yards, 1 rushing TD, 3 passing TDs and 29 Fantasy points. Brandon Marshall was also coming off the bye week who got the only Bears TD in Monday Night Football against the Lions. Doug Martin was looking great against the Saints with 85 rushing yards, 37 receiving yards and 1 rushing TD. Hopefully, he can maintain this. Also, I have to give credit to the Vikings Defense who have been looking great all season. However, the Cardinals offense made them look particularly good in this game. Happy to have won this one despite Jamaal Charles and LeSean McCoy on bye weeks. :)
